Sitting down to eat, take a moment to pause before you start. Close your eyes and breathe deeply for a few moments. What does your meal smell like? Follow your breath as it moves in and out of your body. Now talking to God, express gratitude for the food you have in front of you, and the time you have to eat it. When you're ready, take a bite. What is the texture? What flavors can you distinguish? Continue this process for a few more bites. Now put your utensil down. Notice any residual tastes in your mouth and any sensations as the food moves through your body. Take a deep breath and return to your meal. Continue trying to identify tastes, smells, and sensations as you eat. Ask yourself these questions. How is the need for my physical nourishment similar to the need for my spiritual nourishment? How can I better enjoy nourishing myself spiritually? Great job.
