The definition and interpretation of spirituality are extremely personal. The term "spirituality" refers to a broad range of ideas, customs, and experiences that have to do with the soul or spirit of a person and their relationship to something bigger than themselves. It transcends religious practices and can be viewed as a common, but unique, human experience.

The pursuit of meaning, purpose, and a sense of community in the world are common components of many people's spirituality. It could include contemplating existential issues, reaching out to a higher force or divine presence, looking for inner harmony and tranquility, or meditating and introspecting one's innermost thoughts. Others may discover spirituality in nature, the arts, music, or even ordinary encounters, while some may find it through religious practices.

It requires a willingness to explore and engage with one's own beliefs, values, and experiences to understand spirituality. A deeper connection with oneself, others, and the world around oneself is sought after on this path of self-discovery and self-reflection. A foundation for personal development, healing, and a sense of interconnectedness can be found in spirituality. In the end, each person's definition and comprehension of spirituality is distinct since it is influenced by their own viewpoints, experiences, and search for meaning.

[Kelly Boys, Mindfulness Trainer] - For me, I define spirituality by being connected to more than just this body and mind, and that I have a sense that there is something beyond just this, and what is beyond that, the spirit that is beyond that is also something that is part of me too. For me, spirituality or being spiritual is being connected with that, which is kind of seems or appears outside of me, but also is part of who I am, and so, that kind of connection with the transcendent through the lived experience in my body.
