The idea of invisible guidance during life's journeys is linked to the human desire for direction and purpose.  Psalm 77:19 from the Hebrew Bible says, "Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen". This encourages us to consider the mysterious ways in which we might be led. It means that there is always spiritual advice available, even in the most trying and difficult situations and even when we don’t understand it.

This idea is essential to us because it serves as a constant reminder that we are not the only ones in this journey through life. It makes us to put our faith in a supreme power that will direct us in the right path. It compels us to put aside our desire for understanding and put our trust in the powers that can guide us through the metaphorical "mighty waters" of life. By reminding us that we are supported by something bigger than ourselves, holding onto this concept can give us peace, stability, and a sense of purpose while we navigate life's ups and downs.

[Kelly Boys, Mindfulness Trainer] What if there were invisible guidance for us on life's journey? So check this scripture verse out, it's from the Hebrew Bible, also known as the Christian New Testament. And it speaks to the mystery of the possibility we're being guided moment to moment. Psalm 77:19. "Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen." That's a short verse, but we can actually feel in the words that there's something mysterious here. That even if I'm navigating through mighty waters through the depths of the ocean, that there's the possibility even there of these invisible footprints guiding us. In mindfulness practice, we see that we're always at the edge of the unknown in each moment. So while we like to have safety and security, and those things are really important, it's also true that we're navigating our life step by step, moment to moment, at the horizon of our own understanding. If we were to lean into that and actually trust that there's divine guidance here for us and that it's not just some bullseye answer that we need to get the right thing, moment to moment, but that even in us going away from our path and realizing that we've gone away is part of the whole thing. And so when we realize that maybe we've taken some steps away from where we're headed, or where we wanna be, or we've gotten lost in some way, we can allow ourselves to navigate back. And to also add the possibility that there's this divine guidance with us each step of the way. So we haven't done something wrong. The idea of sin is also called missing the mark. It just means that there's some way that, you know, we've gone away from our inner knowing or from what's best for us. We've just missed the mark in some way. And how would it be to gently bring ourselves back onto the path to listen for what's next. To understand that we're navigating in an unknown situation, moment to moment. And to actually lean into that as we take the steps that we take. So the mindful view is: When you go off track, you're still on track. And so, there's really nothing that you can do to separate yourself from this divine guidance. It's always there for you. And try that on as a possibility, so this isn't just an idea to believe, but it's just something that you can listen to in your experience. Let's do a reflection. Okay, get comfortable. Feel free to have your eyes open or closed. And I'll ask a few questions here. Just reflect inwardly. What guidance might you not be seeing right now as you take the next steps on your journey? What guidance is here for you that you might not be aware of as you're navigating either your day-to-day or a decision that you're making? Can you lean into and feel the possibility of guidance and support that's here? And what's it like to actually feel the presence of support on your journey? To imagine that there are these invisible footsteps just ahead of or beside you, what would that be like? Take that in, feeling the support. Noticing how you feel in your body as you imagine this divine guidance. You can call it spirit, nature, God, whatever word is yours. And is there a specific situation in your life that you actually need guidance on right now? If so, bring that situation to mind, notice what your questions are, and then imagine yourself having that same support, those footsteps, the presence. You're on this journey that you don't know the next step, and it's okay because there's presence with you. Can you carry that into your day-to-day? Allow yourself to feel the presence of support. Thanks for practicing with me.
