- What's your calling? I'd love to read this verse, it's from the Christian New Testament, and then talk a little bit about what it means to get in touch with your purpose and your calling. Ephesians 4:1-3, "I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle, be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called." So let's talk about this and unpack it a little bit. What is a calling that you have in your life that you just sort of get the goosebumps when you think about it? It's something that you know is just really clear for you. There may be one word that comes to you. It may be something like family or love, or it may be more specific. You know exactly what you're calling is. And the underlying thread of your calling is what is gonna carry you through your life. It may look different in all of the different situations and scenarios, but actually the thread of it is your calling. So if you wanna take a minute and really reflect and explore, what could my calling be? I'll also talk a little bit about the other things that are in this verse. It says "Be completely humble and gentle, and be patient, bearing with one another in love." Whoa, what does that mean if you're living out your calling? That there is actually a way to do it. It has to do with humility, patience, being caring and love. So as you consider what you're calling is, can you see if you're doing it from that place in yourself? All right, let's do a little reflection. It's gonna be on discovering your calling. So let's just go for it and see what happens. Feel free to close your eyes. You can have your eyes open if you like. So consider for yourself. What is my calling? As you consider this, see if one word comes to you, see if a phrase comes to you, and see if you can find that thread that's been here throughout your entire life. What you're here for. Just notice what comes, an image, a memory, a word, a phrase, and then allow yourself to attune to this calling, to welcome it in, to accept it, to take it on and to say, "Okay, I'm gonna step into this calling, and how it looks in the next moment, I don't know, or maybe I do know right now, actually." So check and see, is there an action you can take in the next moment, something that would really help you step into your calling? And then imagine yourself doing it from humility, doing it from patience, doing it from love. See how that is. So just take a moment and name inwardly the calling any actions you're gonna take, and how you're gonna go about it. And if nothing came to you, that's okay. Maybe stop here and journal a little bit before you move on to the next thing. Thanks for practicing with me.
