Free From Shame

Begin to purge your toxic shame.

Let's start by relaxing the muscles in your hands, your feet, your shoulders, and your eyes. Breathe gently. And think back to something that has filled you with shame. Is there something from your past that eats at you, that you would like to hide away from the world? Say that thing to yourself. And now say it to God, to your higher power. You are human, imperfect, you fail. And like every human, your failure creates pain within you. What does this pain feel like? Describe these feelings to God. Together with God. Take a moment to mourn the pain of these deep wounds. Shame is not the same as guilt. While guilt motivates you to be better, shame eats at you. This shameful thing has hurt you long enough. You deserve to be free. Take a deep breath. And as you exhale, ask God to fill you with forgiveness for your past self, with mercy for your past self, with compassion for your past self, with strength to move forward. Breathe deeply and open your eyes to a brilliant future.
