Sit in Stillness

Posture is a critical component of our practice of mindfulness and meditation. It opens your access to a calmer and deeper state of awareness. We may possess the same power and durability inside ourselves as a mountain does to withstand the shifting weather. One effective analogy for a grounded and comfortable posture is "sitting like a mountain".

When we position our bodies in a way that encourages an upright spine and a relaxed yet conscious presence, we are able to access the inherent stability and calm that reside within us. We take on the appearance of a mountain, a symbol of strength, stamina, and unwavering stability. By channeling the qualities of a mountain, we may become grounded in the here and now, which helps us to evaluate our ideas, feelings, and sensations with clarity and non-reactivity.

Sitting like a mountain allows us to acknowledge the scope of our existence and the interconnectedness of all things. As we assume this mountain-like posture, we draw strength from within, feeling the stability of the ground under us and the expanse of the cosmos inside us. This analogy serves as a reminder that we have the capacity to weather the storms of life and keep our calm in the face of ever-changing circumstances. So, the next time you meditate or practice mindfulness, remember to sit like a mountain and enjoy the strength and serenity already inside you.
